Bridget Jones - The Edge of Reason, 2004, Renee Zellweger, Hugh Grant, Colin Firth
Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason is a 2004 film directed by Beeban Kidron. It stars Renée Zellweger as Bridget Jones, Colin Firth as Mark Darcy and Hugh Grant as Daniel Cleaver. It is the sequel to Bridget Jones's Diary (2001).
There are significant differences in the story lines between the novel Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason and this film adaptation. One of the more significant deletions is that the film makes no mention of Bridget's fascination with the BBC television version of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice and its star, Colin Firth, whom Bridget meets (in the book) in Italy and plays Mark Darcy in the two Bridget Jones films.
Although the film received a mixed critical reception, it nevertheless was considered a box-office hit, earning $260 million worldwide.
The film has made $261,709,155 worldwide, with $40,226,215 domestically and $221,482,940 in foreign box offices.
Trivia.
During the ski break in Lech am Arlberg, there is a scene with Bridget in a pharmacy. In the original English language version of the film, the persons in the pharmacy are dubbed in Bavarian. This is odd to a local viewer of the film, as the language spoken in Lech is Walser German. (Unless the persons, including the employees, are all from Bavaria).
At one point in the film (where Bridget and Shazza) are at the Thai airport, Bridget indulges in a fantasy of Mark coming out of water in a wet white shirt, just like Colin Firth did in Pride and Prejudice. Colin Firth obviously plays Mark Darcy in the Bridget Jones films.Wikipedia
